The Story
I didn't really have choice to love everything about horses. I grew up with the perfect combination of city and country, living mostly on the Gold Coast and spending school holidays on the family farm, where I spent the earliest years of my life, Manildra in central NSW.
Dressage captivated me from a very young age. I bred performance horses with my mother, which was the best upbringing a horse crazy kid could ask for. The intelligence and the connection required for sand dancing was what caught me, the power and dedication is what keeps me here.
I have been back in central NSW, in the stunning Mudgee, for 6 years now and I cannot imagine life any where else! People constantly ask me how I keep my skin looking so young, and I really think the secret is loving your life. However, reality is that I am pretty religious about taking care of my skin day in and day out.
The Makeup
My biggest issue when spending all day with my horses is being out in the sun with the dust and heat. You wear makeup at a competition in an attempt to look as great as your pony, which by the end of the day is making your eyes burn because it has melted off your face. But if you don't wear makeup you have on sunscreen, and end up with the same problem!
Your face, skin care, and sun safety are the last thing you think you are thinking of when you're with your horses. The No. 1 goal when developing Ride Cosmetics was to create a product that you could put on once and not have to worry about it as you're getting ready for your final ride of the day.
Our products are:
- 100% natural and Australian made with minimal imported ingredients
- Completely mineral based product without nasty fillers or chemical
- Paraben free & completely Vegan - prducts are kind to your skin and the environment
The Mission
The second goal was to produce a product that was as sustainable as possible.
We are incredibly fortunate to be able to manufacture all products in Central NSW, with Australian sourced ingredients. In some cases it is unavoidable to source specific ingredients internationally, however this is minimal. This means that our carbon footprint is pretty amazing, and the products are specifically designed to stand up the the Australian sun. The ingredients featured in our products are 100% natural. We feature plant derived compounds rather than synthetic reproductions. This means that our products are 100% vegan and cruelty free. The added bonus is that because of this, we do not need to include fillers and those nasty parabens so the products nourish work to improve your skin while you wear!
We also aim to be as holistically sustainable as possible, right down to the packaging. When you receive your products in the mail, the postage packaging is either 100% biodegradable or made from recycled materials and is reusable. We are working hard on making the product packaging recycled too... Stay tuned!
